It has come to the attention of the Caton Volunteer Fire Department that there are several residences in the Town of Caton that do not have their assigned 9-1-1 numbers posted on their homes or structures or mailboxes. Posting these numbers is very important, as it may make a difference in saving your life or life of a loved one. Said 9-1-1 numbers displayed on a structure need to be in reflective material and must be no less than four inches in height. Mailbox and mailbox post 9-1-1 numbers also need to be reflective and no less than three inches in height. You can order a custom made,100% reflective sign completely ready with numbers at a cost of $15 each in a green or blue color through the Caton Fire Department. Order forms are at the Clerk's Office in the Caton Town Hall. Also note that there is a Local Law that was adopted in July of 2000 by the Caton Town Board requiring home owners to post assigned 9-1-1 structure numbers and is enforceable by any police officer or local constable or local code enforcement officer. Please remember that if an emergency service of any kind cannot find you they also cannot help you.
